Heavy silver and gold bangle
Here we have:
A silver marquise shaped bangle with gold fins in the corners.
What’s the story?
I introduced this one into the range a few years back but, with the rise in the cost of precious metals, it was just proving too expensive.
I have some materials left so I’m offering them here at a discounted price.
Precious metal prices.
I have always built my jewellery to be solid and weighty. In fact I had an agent for a while who used to deliberately drop one of my 8mm silver bangles on the shop floor so that the owner would pick it up and comment on the weight.
This was all fine and dandy until the precious metal prices went through the roof. Now we seem to be back to the ‘good old days’ of the 1980’s when gold jewellery was built hollow and light in order to bring the price right down and make it affordable for everybody. These days, however, the price is still high whilst the jewellery is getting lighter again.
Not so with my stuff.
I’m afraid that I intend to carry on designing jewellery that will not dent or wear out and that can be detected on your wrist or finger when you’re wearing it. In some ways, the recent trends in the jewellery market aid those of us who want to make something on worth and value as we now stand out from the pack. On the other hand, it does mean that we have to appeal to the smaller band of those of you who appreciate true quality.
