Alpha and Omega in rose and white gold
£300.00 - £1,500.00
I’ve made this design for a few years now. You can see the main listing here.
This set was commissioned by a client and she supplied her own gold and a moissanite to set in it in place of the diamond.
For those of you who’ve not met with moissanite, it’s a naturally occurring mineral that is almost as hard as diamond and has a very similar refractive index which means that it handles light in much the same way. The only real difference is that they are generally not quite as white as the better diamonds.
All in all, they’re a great substitute because most of the other diamond-ish stones such as cubic zirconia, are soft and tend to lose their facets and their sparkle after a few years.
Moissanites are a lot more expensive than cubic zirconia but not as expensive as diamond which makes them a great option for this sort of ring.
So this is a two part ring set in 18ct white gold and 9ct rose gold. The 9ct rose gold gives a better colour than the 18ct which is probably why she chose it. With one thing and another, it didn’t work out and she ended up with something else so these rings are now available.
They were originally conceived as an engagement and wedding ring set with the Omega surrounding and completing the Alpha ring. All kinds of symbolism there that I’m not going to labour. They would work as a dress ring as well so don’t feel you have to find someone to get engaged to if you like the design and want to wear the rings.
Needless to say,a they’re listed at a considerable discount because I’m keen to recover the cost of the materials.
